It was held on 17 April 2011 over a distance of {{convert|260.4|km|1|abbr=off}} and was the tenth race of the 2011 UCI World Tour season. {{ct|OLO|2011}}'s Philippe Gilbert claimed victory for the second successive year after making a decisive move in the race's closing stages,[1] attacking the field on the final climb of the race – the 12% gradient Cauberg[2] – and thus becoming the first rider to win two Amstel Gold Races since Rolf Järmann won the race in 1993 and 1998.
