8 Engineer Brigade is a formation of the British Army under Force Troops Command that has control over most Royal Engineers units.

History

The brigade was formed at Upavon in 2005 and, under the Army 2020 reorganisation, moved to Gibraltar Barracks at Minley in 2014.[1][2]

Structure

The brigade consists of the following units:[3][4]

    • 25 (Close Support) Engineer Group in Minley (Under operational command of 3rd Division)[5]
    • 22 Engineer Regiment in Perham Down
    • 26 Engineer Regiment in Perham Down
    • Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia)
    • 12 (Force Support) Engineer Group in Wittering
    • 21 Engineer Regiment in Catterick[6]
    • 28 Engineer Regiment, Rock Barracks and RAF Honington[7]
    • 32 Engineer Regiment in Catterick[6]
    • 36 Engineer Regiment in Maidstone
    • 75 Engineer Regiment in Warrington (Army Reserve - paired with 36 Engineer Regiment)

    • 35 Engineer Regiment in Perham Down (A written statement in December 2016 stated that it will be rationalised, with all manpower in this unit being redeployed to other areas of the British Army)[9] Unit will be an EOD Regiment based at Carver Barracks, Wimbish.[10]
    • 101 (City of London) Engineer Regiment (EOD) in Wimbish
