Life and careerAbdul Ghani Abdul Hamid was born on April 13, 1933, in Kampung Siglap (now Kampung Bahru), East Coast Road, Singapore.[3] While studying in secondary school, he would poems and articles penned by himself to local Malay newspapers and magazines and also held his inaugural art exhibition during a Youth Festival.[3] After his studies, he worked as an apprentice of the Electrical Department of Keppel Harbour. After which, Abdul found a job as a clerk at the Public Utilities Board (PUB), then known as the Singapore Municipality.
