He previously served as the Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency of Somalia, and as the Chief of the Supreme Military Court.[1] Personal lifeTuryare earned a master's degree in international law. He is also presently a candidate for a PhD in law.[2] CareerTuryare previously served as head of investigations at the National Security headquarters in Mogadishu.[2] Chief of the Supreme Military CourtOn 18 May 2014, Turyare was appointed the new Chief of the Supreme Military Court of Somalia by presidential decree. He succeeded the interim Chief Liban Ali Yarrow.[3] Commander of the National Intelligence and Security AgencyTuryare's term as Military Court Chief ended on 22 September 2014, when the Federal Cabinet appointed him as the new head of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). He replaced Abdullahi Mohamed Ali, who had been sacked earlier in the month. According to the Council of Ministers, the NISA position was also concurrently renamed from "Director" to "Commander".[4][5] In September 2014, the Turyare offered a $2 million reward to any individual who provides information leading to the arrest of the new Al-Shabaab leader, Ahmed Omar Abu Ubeyda. According to the NISA Commander, a separate $1 million would be rewarded to any person who supplies information that could result in the killing of Ubeyda. Turyare also pledged that the informers' identities would be kept private. This is reportedly the first time that a Somalia security official is offering such large dead-or-alive bounties on an Al-Shabaab leader.[6] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://intelligencebriefs.com/somali-president-fires-nisa-chief-spy/|title=Somali President Fires NISA Chief Spy|publisher=strategic Intelligence Service|date=15 June 2016}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Turyare, Abdurahman Mohamud}}2. ^1 {{cite news|title=SOMALIA: President appoints Supreme Military Court chief|url=http://www.raxanreeb.com/2014/05/somalia-president-appoints-supreme-military-court-chief/|accessdate=19 May 2014|newspaper=Raxanreeb|date=19 May 2014}} 3. ^{{cite news|title=New Somali military court chief appointed|url=http://www.hiiraan.ca/news4/2014/May/54731/new_somali_military_court_chief_appointed.aspx|accessdate=11 April 2015|newspaper=Hiiraan Online|date=19 May 2014}} 4. ^{{cite news|title=Somali cabinet appoints Turyare as the director of Somali intelligence|url=http://goobjoog.com/english/?p=4142|accessdate=22 September 2014|agency=Goobjoog|date=21 September 2014}} 5. ^{{cite news|title=SOMALIA: Former Military Court Chief appointed as the new Intelligence Commander|url=http://gaafo.com/380378/somalia-former-military-court-chief-appointed-as-the-new-intelligence-commander/|accessdate=22 September 2014|agency=RBC Radio|date=21 September 2014}} 6. ^{{cite news|title=Somali government puts bounty on Al Shabaab leader |url=http://www.somalicurrent.com/2014/09/27/somali-government-puts-bounty-on-al-shabaab-leader/ |accessdate=27 September 2014 |agency=SomaliCurrent |date=27 September 2014 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20141019215542/http://www.somalicurrent.com/2014/09/27/somali-government-puts-bounty-on-al-shabaab-leader/ |archivedate=19 October 2014 }} 3 : Living people|Somalian jurists|1955 births |
