Detailed Description / BackgroundAdvanced weaponry is providing an exponential increase in intelligence data collection capabilities and the Intelligence Community (IC) is not properly positioned for the influx of intelligence supportability requirements the defense acquisition community is developing for it. The Air Force Material Command (AFMC) has initiated the Intelligence Supportability Analysis[4][5] (ISA) process to allow the IC to triage programs for intelligence sensitivities as well as begin preparations within the IC for the transition of future programs to operational status. The ISA process is accomplished through system decomposition, allowing analysts to identify intelligence requirements and deficiencies. Early collaboration and engagement by program managers and intelligence analysts is crucial to the success of intelligence sensitive programs through the utilization of a repeatable analytical framework for evaluating and making cognizant trade-offs between cost, schedule and performance.[6] Addressing intelligence supportability early in the acquisition process will also influence system design and provide the necessary lead time for intelligence community to react and resource new requirements.[7] References1. ^{{cite web|last=Rollins |first=Amy |title=AFMC Intelligence Squadron redesignated as 21st Intelligence Squadron |url=http://www.wpafb.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123323833 |work=Skywrighter |publisher=USAF |accessdate=8 January 2014 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140109000346/http://www.wpafb.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123323833 |archivedate=9 January 2014 }} 2. ^{{cite web|title=Sinclair and ATIC to offer Acquisition Intelligence Training |url=https://www.mypodcastworld.com |work=Sinclair Community College |publisher=Sinclair Community College |accessdate=8 January 2014 }} 3. ^{{cite web|last=Bolton |first=Hugh |title=ISR Track Program Overview |url=https://atichcd.org/images/uploads/general/ATIC_Trng_Catalog_2013-1.pdf |work=Training Catalog |publisher=Advanced Technical Intelligence Center for Human Capital Development |accessdate=8 January 2014 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140109000106/https://atichcd.org/images/uploads/general/ATIC_Trng_Catalog_2013-1.pdf |archivedate=9 January 2014 }} 4. ^{{cite web|title=AIR FORCE INSTRUCTION 14-111|url=https://www.fas.org/irp/doddir/usaf/afi14-111.pdf|work=USAF INSTRUCTION|publisher=USAF|accessdate=9 January 2014}} 5. ^{{cite web|title=AIR FORCE INSTRUCTION 63-10, INTELLIGENCE SUPPORT TO THE ACQUISITION LIFE-CYCLE|url=http://www.acq.osd.mil/dpap/ccap/cc/jcchb/Files/FormsPubsRegs/Pubs/AFI63-101.pdf|work=memo|publisher=USAF|accessdate=9 January 2014}} 6. ^{{cite web|title=What is the textbook answer to defining cost, schedule, performance, and Risk?|url=https://dap.dau.mil/aap/pages/qdetails.aspx?cgiSubjectAreaID=9&cgiQuestionID=115982|work=Q&A|publisher=Defense Acquisition University|accessdate=9 January 2014}} 7. ^{{cite journal|last=Gold|first=Brian|author2=Mariah Watson |author3= Corey Vayette|author4= Francis Fiduk|title=Intelligence supportability in future systems|journal=SPIE Proceedings|date=27 August 2010|volume=7818|doi=10.1117/12.863062|url=http://proceedings.spiedigitallibrary.org/proceeding.aspx?articleid=723779|accessdate=8 January 2014}} 1 : Military intelligence collection |
