Aftab's only recorded match at any level came during that season's edition of the Ranji Trophy, which holds first-class status.[1] In the match, played against Haryana in September 1974 at the Amar Singh Club Ground, Srinagar, he failed to take a wicket while opening the bowling with Parvez Qureshi, finishing with figures of 0/24 from seven overs.
