It is native to Arizona in the United States and Sonora in Mexico.[1] The specific epithet parviflora means "small-flowered".[2] This agave produces a small rosette up to {{convert|25|cm|0|abbr=on}} tall by {{convert|20|cm|0|abbr=on}} wide. The succulent leaves are up to {{convert|20|cm|0|abbr=on}} long and are a waxy dark green with white markings. The leaf margins have peeling fibers. The plant produces an inflorescence {{convert|1|-|2|m|ft|0|abbr=on}}tall with cream or pale yellow flowers in summer.[3] The flowers are pollinated by bees such as bumblebees.[1] This species is the smallest agave in Arizona and is sought by collectors. For this reason the species has declined in its native habitat. There are only about two dozen natural populations in Arizona. Other threats to the species include road construction and mining.[1] The plant is valued in cultivation and has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.[4] Subspecies of the plant include ssp. parviflora[5] and ssp. densiflora.[6] References1. ^1 2 Agave parviflora. {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20111026075020/http://www.centerforplantconservation.org/Collection/CPC_ViewProfile.asp?CPCNum=49 |date=October 26, 2011 }} Center for Plant Conservation. 2. ^{{cite book|last=Harrison|first=Lorraine|title=RHS Latin for gardeners|year=2012|publisher=Mitchell Beazley|location=United Kingdom|isbn=9781845337315|pages=224}} 3. ^{{cite book|title=RHS A-Z encyclopedia of garden plants|year=2008|publisher=Dorling Kindersley|location=United Kingdom|isbn=1405332964|pages=1136}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=RHS Plant Selector - Agave parviflora|url=http://apps.rhs.org.uk/plantselector/plant?plantid=2107|accessdate=11 June 2013}} 5. ^Agave parviflora.
