He enjoyed a stand-out year in 2012-13 scoring 20 tries in 14 games to be the league's top scorer.[4] Ahead of the admission of a Japanese franchise into Super Rugby, Australian sides were permitted to contract one Japanese player per season to aid their development. And so it was that the Perth-based Western Force signed Yamada to a one-year contract ahead of the 2015 Super Rugby season.[1] International careerYamada made his debut for Japan on 15 November 2013 in a 40-13 victory over {{nrut|Russia}} in Colwyn Bay, Wales.[5] To date he has scored 8 tries in 10 international matches.[3] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.westernforce.com.au/team-member/akihito-yamada |title=Akihito Yamada Western Force Player Profile |work=Western Force Rugby |accessdate=21 December 2014 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20141221143218/http://www.westernforce.com.au/team-member/akihito-yamada |archivedate=21 December 2014 }} 2. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.espn.co.uk/super-rugby-2015/rugby/story/251225.html | title=Force bring in Japan flyer Yamada | work=ESPN | date = 18 December 2014 | accessdate=21 December 2014}} 3. ^1 {{cite web | url=http://www.espn.co.uk/scrum/rugby/player/206151.html | title=Akihito Yamada ESPN Scrum Player Profile | work=ESPN | accessdate=21 December 2014}} 4. ^1 {{cite web | url=http://www.itsrugby.co.uk/player_20471.html | title=Akihito Yamada itsrugby Player Statistics | work=itsrugby.co.uk | accessdate=21 December 2014}} 5. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.espn.co.uk/scrum/rugby/match/194517.html | title=Japan vs Russia 15 November 2014 | work=ESPN | accessdate=21 December 2014}} External links
