It opened on 16 November 2000 as part of the {{OASA Metro stations|station=Dafni}} extension, and is the nearest station to the Acropolis Museum and the eastern entrance to the Acropolis of Athens. The station has a ticket office and three automatic ticket machines. The station is decorated by huge posters of Melina Merkouri and reproductions of the Elgin Marbles of Parthenon. There are two entrances / exits to the station.
