| synonyms_ref = [1]}}Alafia barteri grows as a liana up to {{convert|35|m}} long, with a stem diameter of up to {{convert|3|cm}}. Its fragrant flowers feature a white corolla. Fruit is dark brown with paired cylindrical follicles, each up to {{convert|50|cm}} in diameter. Habitat is lowland forest from sea-level to {{convert|200|m}} altitude.
