The Alam Group of Companies, commonly referred to as the Alam Group is a privately owned conglomerate in Uganda. OverviewThe Alam Group is involved in steel manufacture, aluminum processing, agricultural implements, footwear, sugar manufacture, electricity generation, floriculture, real estate development and management, tourist lodges and motels and the manufacture of liquid petroleum gas, among other investments.[1] HistoryThe group's founder is Manzur Alam, after whom the group is named. Its founding dates back to the 1960s, although it did not enter Uganda until 1980. Its headquarters and majority of companies are in Uganda, where it directly employs over 1,200 people.
