The falls, the third highest in the NWT, form part of the Twin Falls Gorge Territorial Park and has its own day use area with a {{convert|3|km|abbr=on}} trail to the main campsite at Louise Falls, the second of the Twin Falls. Situated on the Mackenzie Highway the falls are about {{Convert|10|km|abbr=on}} southwest of Enterprise and {{Convert|43|km|abbr=on}} southwest of Hay River.[2][3] Both Ed Lucero[4] and Tyler Bradt,[5] whitewater kayakers, have successfully gone over the falls in kayaks. Traditional Dene lore says that the two falls are two spirits, Grandmother and Grandfather, who protect the area.[6] References{{Commons category|Alexandra Falls}}1. ^Alexandra Falls {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20081024120818/http://atlas.nrcan.gc.ca/site/english/learningresources/facts/waterfalls.html |date=2008-10-24 }} at the Atlas of Canada 2. ^[https://www.campingnwt.ca/Processing/tabid/57/ParkID/11/Default.aspx Twin Falls Gorge Territorial Park] {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120321194523/https://www.campingnwt.ca/Processing/tabid/57/ParkID/11/Default.aspx |date=2012-03-21 }} 3. ^Destination Park {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110429082106/http://www.iti.gov.nt.ca/tourismparks/parks/parks/twin_falls_territorial_park_page1.shtml |date=April 29, 2011 }} 4. ^Ed Lucero {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20081225101920/http://www.wetdawg.com/pages/whitewater/ed_lucero/index_ww.php |date=December 25, 2008 }} 5. ^Tyler Bradt Exclusive Interview kayaksession.com {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20100823025621/http://www.kayaksession.com/tyler-bradt-waterfall-record-palouse.php |date=August 23, 2010 }} 6. ^Twin Falls Territorial Park {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110721024851/http://www.iti.gov.nt.ca/tourismparks/parks/parks/twin_falls_territorial_park_page2.shtml |date=July 21, 2011 }} External links 2 : Landforms of the Northwest Territories|Waterfalls of Canada |
