Kerr, known by his nickname of "Bubs", was a rover, recruited from Metropolitan Junior Football Association side Port Rovers.[2] A knee injury brought an early end to his debut season and kept him out of action for over a year, until he came back into the team late in the 1907 VFL season. In just his third game back, Kerr kicked four goals in a semi final win over Collingwood.[3] He then appeared as one of South Melbourne's followers in the 1907 Grand Final, which ended in a Carlton victory.[3] He appeared in all possible 21 games for South Melbourne in 1909, including their grand final win, when they reversed the result from two years earlier and defeated Carlton.[3] From 1912, until the war, Kerr played for Prahran.[1] References{{Commons category}}1. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://australianfootball.com/players/player/alex%2Bkerr/2181|title=Alex Kerr - Player Bio|publisher=Australian Football|accessdate=14 March 2015}} {{1909 South Melbourne premiership players}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Kerr, Alex}}{{AFL-bio-1880s-stub}}2. ^{{cite book|last=Holmesby|first=Russell|last2=Main|first2=Jim|title=The Encyclopedia Of AFL Footballers| publisher=BAS Publishing|year=2007|isbn=978-1-920910-78-5}} 3. ^1 2 AFL Tables: Alex Kerr 5 : 1880 births|Australian rules footballers from Victoria (Australia)|Sydney Swans players|Prahran Football Club players|1965 deaths |
