Early lifeHe was born in Wiltshire. He went to the Allestree Woodlands School, a comprehensive school in Allestree, in the north-west of Derby. He has a bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences from St Catharine's College, Cambridge, where he was captain of the darts team.[3] CareerSSEHe became deputy chief executive of SSE in September 2012, and chief executive in July 2013.[4] In 2014 he was paid £755,000 in salary.
