词条 | Andrew K. Ludwick |
释义 |
Before founding SynOptics in 1985, Ludwick worked as an executive assistant at Xerox Corporation. Within Xerox, he teamed up with Xerox PARC researcher Ronald V. Schmidt to promote the idea of commercializing Schmidt's invention of a fiber optic version of the ethernet computer networking system. Although they were rebuffed in their goal of turning this system into a Xerox product, Xerox instead allowed Ludwick and Schmidt to spin it off into a separate company (with equity held by Xerox in exchange for their intellectual property). The company, initially named Astra Communications, eventually became SynOptics.[2] References1. ^[https://www.nytimes.com/1994/07/06/business/company-news-wellfleet-and-synoptics-plan-2.7-billion-computer-union.html COMPANY NEWS; Wellfleet and Synoptics Plan $2.7 Billion Computer Union] {{start box}}{{s-bus}}{{succession box |before= none |title= President & CEO2. ^{{citation|title=The Triumph of Ethernet: Technological Communities and the Battle for the LAN Standard|series=Innovations and technology in the world economy|first=Urs|last=von Burg|publisher=Stanford University Press|year=2001|isbn=9780804740951|pages=177–178|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=ooBqdIXIqbwC&pg=PA177}}. 3. ^ {{cite web | url = http://www.faqs.org/abstracts/Business-general/Bay-Networks-finds-its-new-chief-at-Intel-Successful-high-tech-union-shows-signs-of-strain.html | title = Bay Networks finds its new chief at Intel }} SynOptics | years= 1985 - 1994 | after = SynOptics merged with Wellfleet to form Bay Networks}}{{s-bus}}{{succession box |before= none |title= President & CEO Bay Networks | years= 1994 - 1996 | after = David L.
