Peethambaram under the Gaja Lakshmi Chitra banner and directed by S. D. Lal. It stars N. T. Rama Rao, Murali Mohan, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Latha in the lead roles and music composed by Chakravarthy. The film is a remake of the Hindi movie Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973). The film was recorded as a Super Hit at the box office. PlotThe film is a tale of 3 siblings Vijay, Anand, & Naveen, on the occasion of their father Venu Gopal's (A. V. M. Rajan) birthday, their mother Lakshmi (Pushpalata) teaches them a song titled Aanaati Hrudayala, which they held dearly to their hearts. Once Venu Gopal witnesses a robbery made by a deadly gangster Parasuram (Prabhakar Reddy). To protect his identity, Parasuram slaughters Venu Gopal & Lakshmi. Vijay & Anand watch the death, with the horror the masked Parusuram shooting them and escapes with the help of kind-hearted henchmen of Parasuram James (Tyagaraju). But unfortunately, they too get separated, while Naveen is whisked by their maternal aunt. Years roll by, Vijay (N. T. Rama Rao) is haunted by the memory of his parents' murder joins an assistant Devadas (Raja Babu) on a crime spree around the city. Anand (Murali Mohan) is reared by an elderly Ramaiah (Raavi Konadala Rao) while Naveen (Nandamuri Balakrishna) becomes a famous pop singer and does gigs at hotels. The Police eventually apprehend James, sentenced for 15 years and Vijay is anxiously waiting for his return to seek his revenge. Parallelly, Vijay gets acquaintance with James daughter Geeta (Kanchana) and both of them come closer. Parallelly, Anand's love of his life is Sunitha / Sony (Latha) daughter of a millionaire Chandra Shekar and Naveen falls for his co-signer, (Jayamalini). The brothers meet several times, yet do not recognize each other. However, when they finally do, they cannot contact each other.
