释义 |
"Our Fair City" is a fantasy short story by Robert A. Heinlein, originally printed in Weird Tales, January 1949. The story involves an old parking lot attendant, his pet whirlwind (named Kitten), and a muckraking newspaper columnist who decide to "clean up" their city's corrupt government by running the whirlwind for political office. ReceptionAlexei Panshin has called it an "amiable trifle",[1] while Brian Stableford has described it as an example of "preliminary de-historicization followed by re-accommodation to American pragmatism".[2]OriginsHeinlein biographer William H. Patterson Jr. noted that Heinlein wrote the story in four days in October 1947, inspired by L. Ron Hubbard's decision to name a dust devil which was frequently present outside Heinlein's apartment.[3] References1. ^[https://www.panshin.com/critics/Dimension/hd03-2.html Heinlein in Dimension: 1949], published 1968; archived at Panshin.com {{sf-story-stub}}2. ^[https://books.google.ca/books?id=1YAQCZ5NyjUC&pg=PA170&lpg=PA170&dq=%22our+fair+city%22+heinlein+review&source=bl&ots=nwAhptaK1x&sig=Eka7uC7Gh_ezfZAOWY5CdBRoBTQ&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjvuNq84q7aAhWU0aYKHYaNDw0Q6AEIYzAJ#v=onepage&q=%22our%20fair%20city%22%20heinlein%20review&f=false News of the Black Feast and Other Random Reviews], by Brian Stableford; published 2009 by Wildside Press 3. ^[https://books.google.ca/books?id=Z93OvsN2yq8C&pg=PA438&lpg=PA438&dq=%22our+fair+city%22+heinlein&source=bl&ots=b6QXCOEBnw&sig=-IxlxJA_A_nxWgUiQhJGkJ90sNI&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiB3-n54K7aAhVn7IMKHSe0DKcQ6AEIigEwFA#v=onepage&q=%22our%20fair%20city%22%20heinlein&f=false Robert A.
