Experience it}}) is a 1967 Indian Tamil-language comedy film written and directed by K. Balachander. It stars Nagesh along with R. Muthuraman, Rajasree and Jayabharathi. It was remade in Hindi as Do Phool,[1] and in Kannada as Kittu Puttu. PlotA man experiences culture shock after arriving in Madras for the first time.[2] Cast
ProductionAnubavi Raja Anubavi was directed by K. Balachander, who wrote the screenplay based on a story by Rama Arangannal.[6] The film was produced by V. R. Annamalai and M. R. M. Arunachalam under Ayya Films. The song "Madras Nalla Madras", picturised on Nagesh, was filmed on the roads of Madras (now Chennai).[6]SoundtrackMusic was composed by M. S. Viswanathan while the lyrics were written by Kannadasan.[3] According to Udhav Naig of The Hindu, "Madras Nalla Madras" was one of the first songs that tried to provide a commentary on life in the city.[4] References to how no-one goes slow on the road or speaks good Tamil were also seen in the song.[5] Like most songs in Balachander's films, the lyrics were satirical in nature.[6] "Muthukulikka Vaareergala" was sung in the Thoothukudi dialect.[7] Tamil track list
The Telugu language lyrics are written by Anisetty Subbarao.[8]
ReceptionFilm historian Randor Guy praised the film for the "excellent screenplay, dialogue and direction of K. Balachander and the brilliant performance by Nagesh in a dual role."[9] References1. ^{{Cite news |url=http://www.thehindu.com/features/cinema/KB%E2%80%99s-continuum/article16448445.ece |title=KB’s continuum |last=Narayan |first=Hari |date=15 November 2016 |work=The Hindu |access-date=6 April 2018}} 2. ^{{Cite news|url=http://www.indulgexpress.com/entertainment/cinema/2017/oct/13/chennai-in-the-eyes-of-cinema-3941.html|title=Chennai in the eyes of Cinema|last=|first=|date=13 October 2017|work=The New Indian Express|access-date=11 April 2018|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=}} 3. ^{{cite web | url=http://gaana.com/album/anubhavi-raja-anubhavi | title=Anubhavi Raja Anubhavi Tracklist | publisher=Gaana.com | date=31 December 1967 | accessdate=15 June 2015}} 4. ^{{cite news | url=http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/chennai/madras-375-madras-by-day-by-night-and-by-song/article6332571.ece | title=Madras by day, by night and by song | work=The Hindu | date=20 August 2014 | accessdate=15 June 2015 | last=Naig | first=Udhav}} 5. ^{{cite news | url=http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/tp-tamilnadu/how-madras-tamil-jazzed-up-movies/article2410298.ece | title=How Madras Tamil jazzed up movies | work=The Hindu | date=30 August 2011 | accessdate=15 June 2015}} 6. ^{{cite web|last1=Raman|first1=Sruthi Ganapathy|title=Madras Day: The film songs that best capture the city’s diverse spirit|url=https://scroll.in/reel/848005/madras-day-the-film-songs-that-best-capture-the-citys-diverse-spirit|website=Scroll.in|accessdate=11 April 2018|date=22 August 2017}} 7. ^{{Cite news |url=http://www.thehindu.com/features/metroplus/nxg/the-city-in-celluloid/article2365178.ece |title=The city in celluloid |last=Pudipeddi |first=Haricharan |date=17 August 2011 |work=The Hindu |access-date=15 June 2015}} 8. ^{{cite web|title=Anubhavincu Raaja Anubhavincu – 1968 (Dubbing)|url=http://ghantasalagalamrutamu.blogspot.in/2009/04/1968_21.html|website=Ghantasala Galamrutamu|accessdate=3 March 2016|language=Telugu}} 9. ^1 2 {{Cite news|url=http://www.thehindu.com/entertainment/movies/Anubavi-Raja-Anubavi/article16789418.ece |title=Anubavi Raja Anubavi |last=Guy |first=Randor |authorlink=Randor Guy |date=10 December 2016 |website=The Hindu |access-date=24 December 2016}} }} External links
