It has a sharp rostrum that it uses to pierce the body of its prey and suck out the insides.[8]BehaviourThey normally continue to move to avoid being eaten by predators. It has good vision, and can row quickly over the surface of the water. It uses its front legs to seize its prey.[8] During breeding season, this species can communicate with potential mates by sending ripples over on the surface of the water.[8] Adult females normally lay their eggs on plant stems at the water's edge.[8] DietThis predatory species feeds on mosquito larvae living under the surface, and dead insects on the surface, and other insects that accidentally land on the water.[8] References1. ^{{Cite journal|author=Andersen, Nils Møller|year=1990|title=Phylogeny and taxonomy of water striders, genus Aquarius Schellenberg (Insecta, Hemiptera, Gerridae), with a new species from Australia|journal=Steenstrupia|volume=16|issue=4|pages=37–81}} Abstract 2. ^{{cite book|last1=Say|first1=Thomas|editor1-last=Le Conte|editor1-first=John L.|title=The Complete Writings of Thomas Say on the Entomology of North America|date=1859|publisher=Bailliere Brothers|location=New York|page=362|chapter-url=https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/13200364|chapter=Descriptions of new species of Heteropterous Hemiptera of North America|volume=1|orig-year=1832}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://bugguide.net/node/view/140826/bgimage |title=Water Strider Gerris remigis - Aquarius remigis |publisher=BugGuide.Net |date= |accessdate=2011-08-29}} 4. ^{{cite web|author=Wilcox, R.
