It was discovered in 1989 and developed by Chornomornaftogaz and Shelton Canada. It is located {{convert|60|-|70|km}} off the coast, at a depth of {{convert|51|m}}.[1] Arkhangelske field began production in 1991 and produces natural gas and condensates.
