He was a recipient of the Army Distinguished Service Medal.[1] He wrote an account of U.S. Army operations in North Africa titled Report of Operations in North Africa.[2] Later, he also served in the Pacific Theater, as quartermaster, working to "infuse vigor into all supply activities in Australia".[3] In July 1944 Wilson was based in Naples, commanding Coastal Base Section, which accompanied the Seventh Army on 15 August 1944 during Operation Dragoon, the Allied invasion of Southern France.
