Prior to that, he was the Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India.[1] Early life and educationArvind Virmani attended The Doon School. He later graduated with a degree in Economics from the St. Stephen's College, Delhi and from California Institute of Technology, following, graduated with a doctorate in economics from Harvard University.[2] CareerHe has been an advisor to the Indian Government at the highest levels, including as Principal Advisor, Planning Commission and Chief Economic Advisor, Ministry of Finance.[3] During his period as the Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, Virmani wrote the Economic survey of India (2008-2009).
