(Arabic: أسعد علي ياسين) Born in 3/2/1953, is a former Politician and a businessman, he was the Iraqi ambassador to Sofia-Bulgaria, appointed by the Ministry Of Foreign Affairs in 2009, former ambassador of Iraq to Yemen 2010-2012 and was the president of Samarra’s city council from 2006 till 2007, was an officer in the Ministry Of Trade from 1971-1980, also a leading contractor for many projects in Iraq from 1981-1986. Mr. Yaseen has six children; Bakir, Omar, Maimona, Dhulfiqar, Muhammad and Othman respictively.

Early Life and Work Timeline

Asaad Ali Yaseen Was Born in Samarra/Salah Addin in 1953, joined the Military during the Iran-Iraq War, he graduated from College of Literature in Baghdad 1977-1978, at the early 90's, Mr. Yaseen was the chairman of one of the biggest tires trading companies "Al-Rafidain". Besides success in business, Mr. Yaseen is known in Salah Ad din province for his charity, He built charity school in Samarra, and built water piping for an entire neighborhood on his own expense, not to mention other donations for public utilities.

Bachelor of Science, Islamic and Arabic Language Faculty of Arts, University of Baghdad, 1977–1978 .

Master in Economics - Punjab 1996 .

Membership of The Arab Academy for banking and financial sciences . (Amman, Jordan), 1996 .

In office

Yaseen was elected as the president of the Sammarra city council in the period of 09-2005 till 04-2008 in a very hard period where the city witnessed an incident in Feb 2006 of the explosions of Shia holy shrine that caused a sea of blood in a sectarian war, at that time there were no forces in the city to stop the terrorists, Mr. Yaseen gathered men from his tribe and formed a force that he was paying from his own pocket and he paid a price of 23 lives from his relatives and tribe including his elder brother, which followed a series of assassination attempts that later on resulted his house which was one of the biggest in Iraq to be destroyed.

- Mr. Yaseen was assigned as an Ambassador of Iraq to Yemen in 2010, where he did so many activities for the Iraqi's and provided new services like passport issuing system and opened a direct airline flights from Sanaa to Baghdad which later on was cancelled by the ministry of transfer.- In 2013 Mr. Yaseen was assigned to Bulgaria where he became the Dean of the Arab Corps from 12-2013 till 12-2014.- In 2015 Mr. Yaseen was assigned to Mauritania where he stayed for one year before he retired in March 2016 due to reaching the retirement age.- Mr. Yaseen was independent and didn't join and party in the Iraqi government.

Remarkable Events 2013

Arab Ambassadors council held a meeting on 3rd Dec 2013 at Ambassador’s residence , the Arab Ambassadors agreed during the meeting to nominate the Ambassador as the Dean of Arab Diplomatic Corps in Bulgaria for his activities and actions aim to develop Arab – Bulgarian relations, and for his real desire in activating Arab joint action .

For his part, the Ambassador thanked his counterparts, and expressed his appreciation to them and for their confidence to perform the task, stating that since the very beginning of his arrival to Sofia he intended to strengthen not only Iraqi – Bulgarian relations, but with all Arab accredited Embassies.

According to the great efforts exerted by the Ambassador and the Embassy , represented by the Consul, the Embassy and in cooperation with the competent Bulgarian Authorities organized a freecharter flight for Iraqi citizens who desire to return voluntarily to Baghdad on 27th Nov 2013, Second Secretary Ahmed Abdulmunim Ahmed accompanied the ( 58 ) Iraqi returnees to homeland, ( 48 ) of them from Bulgaria and ( 10 ) from Greece.

They were received at Baghdad International Airport by a commission from Iraqi Ministry of Displacement and Migration, where they received at Baghdad International Airport some cash amounts and other advantages granted to voluntary returnees to homeland .

The Iraqi returned praised Embassy’s fruitful efforts in canceling judicial judgments against them in Bulgaria and providing voluntary return to them, and according to Ambassador’s guidance, the consul accompanied returned Iraqi citizens to Baghdad and reassured to complete entry procedures and their meeting with Ministry of Displacement and Migration’s commission.

The Ambassador met on 19th.Nov.2013 afternoon with Mr. Hristo Buzukov the Dean of Agriculture Academy , which is part of the Bulgarian Ministry of food and agriculture, the meeting was attended with some professors and experts working in the academy .

The Ambassador discussed ways of strengthening joint cooperation of the academy with the Iraqis Universities of Agriculture by holding training sessions and providing scholarships to the postgraduate students in the field of agriculture, Mr. Hristo expressed the willingness of his academy to cooperate with the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture and Agriculture University in the above-mentioned fields in addition to hold seminars about academic researches for the Iraqi and Bulgarian specialists in this field .

Then the dean handed over the Ambassador a proposal for cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture in various fields .

For his part Mr. Buzukov expressed his appreciation for Embassy’s positive interaction pointing that the Academy honors to cooperate with the Ministries of Agriculture and Higher Education.
