It concentrates mainly on the political and social aspects of Sudanese history and is intended as an introduction to more detailed study. The author, Mandour Elmahdi, is a Sudanese educator who was the Principal of the Institute of Education in Bakht er Ruda at the time the book was published. PrefaceThe history of the Sudan from earliest times to the end of the Condominium and the attainment of independence in 1956 is addressed to a general audience of all ages. It does not claim to cover every aspect of Sudanese history, but is rather intended to be a general introduction which emphasizes the social and political patterns within a wider framework of events.
