Its conidia size is approximately 5–7 μm. The species was first described in 2006. It has been isolated from grapes from Spain and Portugal. The genome of A. ibericus was sequenced and published in 2014 as part of the Aspergillus whole-genome sequencing project – a project dedicated to performing whole-genome sequencing of all members of the Aspergillus genus.[4] The genome assembly size was 33.44 Mbp.[4] Growth and morphologyA. ibericus has been cultivated on both Czapek yeast extract agar (CYA) plates and Malt Extract Agar Oxoid® (MEAOX) plates.
