LifeHe earned a BSc, from the University of Western Australia in 1952, and DPhil, from the University of Oxford in 1956. In 1960, he won the Rennie Memorial Medal. In 1961, he won a Nuffield Scholarship to study with Sir Derek Barton.[4] He taught at the University of Adelaide. He was Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Australian National University, from 1981 to 1995. FamilyHe was married; they had three children.
