The town lots were offered for sale in the new town of Aubigny in December 1885, but only two lots were sold at that time, one to the Lutheran church and one to the Catholic church.[4] St John's Lutheran Church opened in 1886 and is still operational.[5] Aubigny Post Office opened around September 1907 (a receiving office had been open since 1894) and closed in 1968.[6] Aubigny State School opened 24 January 1921 and closed about 1 December 1967.[7][8] The town was serviced by the Cecil Plains railway line between 1915 and 1994. TangkamThe former locality of Tangkam ({{coord|27|28|59|S|151|40|00|E|type:city_region:AU-QLD|name=Tangkam, Queensland}}) is in the northern part of Aubigny. It took its name from the Tangkam railway station ({{coord|-27.4745|151.6725|type:railwaystation_region:AU-QLD|name=Tangkam railway station}}) on the Cecil Plains railway line. The name Tangkam is believed to be an Aboriginal word meaning sour.[9] {{Clear}}References1. ^{{cite QPN|981|Aubigny|accessdate=2 April 2014}} {{coord|27|31|23|S|151|38|46|E|type:city_region:AU-QLD|display=title}}{{Toowoomba Region}}{{queensland-geo-stub}}2. ^{{cite QPN|47886|Aubigny|accessdate=2 April 2014}} 3. ^1 {{Census 2011 AUS|id=SSC30068|name=Aubigny|accessdate=2 April 2014|quick=on}} 4. ^{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article19802321 |title=QUEENSLAND NEWS. |newspaper=The Queenslander |date=26 December 1885 |accessdate=27 October 2014 |page=1009 |via=National Library of Australia}} 5. ^{{Citation | title=St John's Lutheran Church Aubigny 1886-1986 centennial booklet : centennial celebrations 11th May, 1986 | publication-date=1986 | publisher=St John's Lutheran Church | url=http://trove.nla.gov.au/work/170819645 | accessdate=27 October 2014 }} 6. ^{{Cite web | last = Premier Postal History | title = Post Office List | publisher = Premier Postal Auctions | url = https://www.premierpostal.com/cgi-bin/wsProd.sh/Viewpocdwrapper.p?SortBy=QLD&country= | accessdate = 10 May 2014}} 7. ^{{Cite QldSchool|accessdate=2 April 2014}} 8. ^{{Cite QSA Agency|6349|Aubigny State School|3 April 2014}} 9. ^{{cite QPN|33281|Tangkam|neighbourhood|accessdate=27 January 2017}} 2 : Towns in Queensland|Toowoomba Region |
