Cast
ProductionBackyard Cricket was shot in the town of Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, the first of two films to be shot in the town (the other being Stakes).[2]ReceptionFilm critic Paul Byrnes wrote in The Sydney Morning Herald: "Grentell has good timing and an inventive, unpredictable eye for a gag. He has a feel for the dryness of Australian humour, without the jingoism." The film earned a profit and [3][4] grossed over $100,000 in just four cinemas in its first month. It went on to screen on more than 70 screens nationally, grossing over $600,000, and continues to pay small royalties.[5][6] References1. ^http://www.canberratimes.com.au/act-news/backyard-ashes-battlers-hit-the-big-guys-for-six-20140130-31pxj.html 2. ^http://regionalartsnsw.com.au/2013/10/backyard-ashes-little-aussie-film-that-could/ 3. ^http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/movies/backyard-ashes-film-set-in-wagga-features-a-pom-next-door-20140122-318wu.html/ 4. ^http://www.dailyadvertiser.com.au/story/2667863/a-year-on-backyard-ashes-still-a-hit/ 5. ^http://www.beat.com.au/arts/backyard-ashes-heads-melbourne 6. ^http://www.theaustralian.com.au/arts/backyard-ashes-a-flame-for-self-funded-success/story-e6frg8n6-1226758499413 External links
