Ballet Memphis was founded in 1986 by Dorothy Gunther Pugh. Ballet Memphis, based in Memphis, Tennessee, is regionally and nationally recognized professional ballet company. Ballet Memphis regularly performs at their midtown home in an intimate performance space, at Playhouse on the Square, Germantown Performing Arts Center, and the Orpheum Theatre. Ballet Memphis is noted as the most diverse ballet company in the country and presents classical and mixed-repertory contemporary choreography.
