He wanted to construct an educational centre in Balutungi village. Pandit and several other people started the school in response to a lack of literacy among the people of Balutungi village, and named it after the village. The school had just a few students when it opened, but now has more than 2,000 students enrolled. It has become one of the biggest schools in the area. Recently, Balutungi High School opened a science department, and is constructing a new building for it.
