The Bannisdale Horseshoe is an upland area near the eastern boundary of the Lake District National Park, surrounding the valley of Bannisdale Beck, a tributary of the River Mint. It is described in the final chapter of Wainwright's book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland.[1] It describes Wainwright's clockwise walk visits Whiteside Pike at {{convert|1302|ft|m}}, Todd Fell at {{convert|1313|ft|m}}, Capplebarrow at {{convert|1683|ft|m}}, a nameless summit at {{convert|1819|ft|m}} (identified in the Database of British and Irish Hills (DoBIH) as Swinklebank Crag),[2] a further nameless summit at {{convert|1771|ft|m}} (identified in DoBIH as Ancrow Brow North),[2] Long Crag at {{convert|1602|ft|m}}, White Howe at {{convert|1737|ft|m}}, a further nameless summit at {{convert|1736|ft|m}} (identified in DoBIH as The Forest[2]) and Lamb Pasture at {{convert|1205|ft|m}}. He describes Whiteside Pike as "a dark pyramid of heather and bracken and outcrops of rock: much the most attractive part of the horseshoe and worth a visit even if one goes no further."
