Originally from Gympie, Queensland, Barry McTaggart signed with Balmain Tigers in 1969 and won a premiership in his debut year when he played prop forward in the 1969 Grand Final win over South Sydney Rabbitohs. McTaggart played four seasons at Balmain between 1969-1972, and was chosen to tour England with the Australian World Cup squad in 1970. He played one test match on that tour against France before injury curtailed the rest of his tour. Barry McTaggart is listed on the Australian Players Register as Kangaroo No.453.[1] He also played three minor matches on the World Cup Tour and he retired in 1973.[2] References1. ^ARL Annual Report 2005, page 55 {{Balmain Tigers squad 1969 NSWRFL premiership}}{{DEFAULTSORT:McTaggart, Barry}}2. ^Alan Whiticker/Glen Hudson: Encyclopedia of Rugby League Players. 1995 ({{ISBN|1875169571}}) 8 : Balmain Tigers players|Australian rugby league players|Australia national rugby league team players|1946 births|Living people|People from Gympie|Rugby league props|Rugby league players from Queensland |
