He played Gaelic football with his local club Four Masters and the Donegal senior inter-county team. ClubMonghan won the Donegal Senior Football Championship with his club in 2003. He scored two points in the final against Termon.[1] Inter-countyMonaghan played in the 2006 Ulster Senior Football Championship Final at Croke Park.[2] He was a member of the Donegal team that won the National Football League in 2007, playing from the start to the end in the final against Mayo.[3] In 2010, he announced he would take a break.[4] He returned the following month.[5] A serious leg injury ended his career.[6] He also captained his county.[6] He is the son of All Star former inter-county player Donal Monaghan.
