In December 2017, it was announced that the series was being revived as a podcast by UK 3’s The World At Large series. ProductionIn October 2010, Fox gave a script commitment to the series, which was being written by J. D. Walsh and executive-produced by Walsh and Marc Webb.[2] Fox later passed on making the show.[3] Walsh shot a 20-minute pilot funded by family members.[4] He said no television network was willing to air the series due to its politics-related theme.[5] Hulu later stepped in to produce the series.[5] Battleground is set in Wisconsin, the childhood home of long-time friends Walsh and Webb.[6] Walsh has also worked for Massachusetts Senator John Kerry in a previous political campaign.[7] In a press release, he said: "People hate politics but they love elections. Campaigns are about good versus evil, our team versus yours, relationships, temptations, power, unimaginable triumphs and heartbreaking defeats.
