The Battle occurred around the time of the Anglo-Saxon pushback against the Danelaw when Edward 'the Elder' of Wessex and Æthelflæd of Mercia began a series of campaigns against the Danelaws, eventually subjugating them into the Kingdom of England. The battlefield was also the site of the 1469 Battle of Edgecote Moor. {{coord|52|06|52|N|1|14|50|W|type:event_region:GB_source:jawiki|display=title}}{{UK-battle-stub}} 5 : Battles in Northamptonshire|Banbury|910s conflicts|914|10th century in England |
