It was launched in May 2011[2][3][4][5][6] and included some updates contributed by users during 2011. During the site's first day of public operation, over two million pages were viewed.[7] HistoryThe BBC said that it worked with The National Archives to transfer the material.[8] The data was extracted to a PC compatible computer by communication{{How|date=July 2018}} with a BBC Master computer which could read the disks from the original system. The transfer was facilitated by Simon Guerrero and Andy Finney, who were involved in the original project (Andy as an engineer and Simon as a teenage contributor).{{Citation needed|date=July 2018}} In December 2011, the BBC announced installations of large horizontally installed (table-style) touchscreen interfaces to the data, known as "TouchTable". They are housed at its MediaCityUK site in Salford and The National Museum of Computing in Bletchley.[7][9][10] The TouchTables used have a diagonal display size of 52 inches, which exceeded the largest LCD-based {{nowrap|Surface 2.0}} screen available at the time.[11] The TouchTables were reported to have been developed by eMoot[12] and allow up to four users to browse through the information at the same time,[10] using 12 touch points simultaneously.[13] The website was transferred to The National Archives in June 2018.[14] Main featuresThe website provided online access to images and articles from the original Domesday Project. Visitors were able to update information from their local area[15] until the end of October 2011.[16][17] Some local libraries hosted events for residents to contribute updates to the site.[18][19] References1. ^{{cite web| url = http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2011/05_may/12/domesday.shtml| title = BBC Domesday Reloaded unveils rarely-seen local material from 1986| accessdate = 2011-05-13| publisher = BBC| date = 2011-05-12| quote = [...] has been unearthed through BBC Domesday Reloaded [...]}} 2. ^The National Archives - the UK government's official archive 3. ^{{cite news | url=https://www.wired.co.uk/podcast/episode-24 | title=Behind the BBC's Domesday Reloaded | work=Wired UK | date=6 May 2011 | accessdate=7 November 2011 | author=Lanxon, Nate}} 4. ^{{cite news | url=http://www.historyextra.com/blog/domesday-reloaded | title=Domesday Reloaded | work=BBC History | date=12 May 2011 | accessdate=7 November 2011 | author=Musgrove, Dave | quote=Domesday Reloaded reopens to the public the material that was gathered 25 years ago for the BBC Domesday project.}} 5. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/39906/domesday-reloaded-bbc-project-1986 | title=BBC Domesday Project Reloaded for the Internet age | publisher=Pocket-lint | date=6 May 2011 | accessdate=7 November 2011 | author=Sung, Dan | quote=In a matter of days, all of that information will finally be available to see online as Domesday Reloaded.}} 6. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.e2bn.org/news/307/domesday-reloaded.html |title=Domesday Reloaded |publisher=East of England Broadband Network |accessdate=7 November 2011 |quote=Today, the BBC launched the Domesday Reloaded website. |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20111017115624/http://www.e2bn.org/news/307/domesday-reloaded.html |archivedate=17 October 2011 |df=dmy }} 7. ^1 {{cite news | url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16053184 | title=Domesday Reloaded Project opens at Bletchley Park | work=BBC News | date=7 December 2011 | accessdate=8 December 2011 | author=Lee, Dave | quote=The BBC's Domesday Project has been made into an interactive 'touchtable' now on display at The National Museum of Computing at Bletchley Park.
