Streckfuss, a Beverley recruit, made two appearances for South Melbourne in the 1909 VFL season.[2][3] He wasn't selected in South Melbourne's premiership team but was a member of the side which defeated West Adelaide to win the Championship of Australia.[4] In 1910 he played more regularly, making 16 appearances, two of them in the finals series.[3] He was involved in a controversial incident that year in a game against Carlton, knocked unconscious by a George Topping king-hit, which resulted in a field invasion.[5] The Carlton player was banned for 35 matches, but Streckfuss was fined (£10) as well, after it was later revealed in court that he had earlier struck Carlton's Andrew McDonald.[6] Streckfuss went to Williamstown in 1911.[7] During the 1920s, Streckfuss worked as a VFL boundary umpire. The 109 games that he umpired includes a stint as a goal umpire in 1930. He officiated in eight finals.[8] References{{Commons category}}1. ^{{cite web|url=http://australianfootball.com/players/player/Bert%2BStreckfuss/2620|title=Bert Streckfuss – Player Bio|publisher=Australian Football|accessdate=14 March 2015}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Streckfuss, Bert}}2. ^The Argus,"Club Gossip", 27 August 1909, p. 4 3. ^1 AFL Tables: Bert Streckfuss 4. ^The Register,"Australian Championship", 11 October 1909, p. 5 5. ^{{cite book|last=Holmesby|first=Russell|last2=Main|first2=Jim|title=The Encyclopedia of AFL Footballers| publisher=BAS Publishing|year=2007|isbn=9781920910785}} 6. ^Kalgoorlie Miner,"Ruffianism In Football", 9 June 1910, p. 5 7. ^Williamstown Chronicle,"Football Notes", 13 May 1911, p. 3 8. ^{{cite web| url=http://www.aflua.com.au/player_umpires#streckfuss| title=Albert Streckfuss| publisher=AFL Umpires Association| deadurl=yes| archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20130410043346/http://www.aflua.com.au/player_umpires#streckfuss| archivedate=10 April 2013| df=dmy-all}} 6 : 1888 births|Australian rules footballers from Victoria (Australia)|Sydney Swans players|Williamstown Football Club players|Australian Football League umpires|1974 deaths |
