He currently presents The Paul Miller Show and The Paul Miller Soul Show on BBC Local Radio in the South of England. CareerBefore his current run on the radio, Miller was offered a job at Channel 4's Big Breakfast,[1] but turned down the offer because of his love for the radio. Miller first appeared on BBC Radio Solent in 1994 as a traffic reporter on the station's morning slot. A couple years later he was given his own show, broadcast on Saturday and Sunday nights, and was simulcast on BBC Southern Counties Radio from September 1997. Since 1999, he has hosted the late show from 10{{nbsp}}pm to 1{{nbsp}}am every weekday, which is broadcast to six stations, reaching much of the South of England:
The Paul Miller ShowThe Paul Miller Show is primarily phone-in based, with callers contributing to a number of topics each evening. The show starts at 10{{nbsp}}pm and finishes at 1{{nbsp}}am. The show starts with a different phone-in game each day, for instance on Wednesdays callers try to guess the occupation of a mystery guest. The show's most popular feature is a quiz game called "The Bag" in which six questions are asked by the producer, then Paul and a listener give their answers in turn. Paul used to read the show's news bulletins, until Sarah Lowden joined the team. After midnight the show has a different feature each night and on Friday evenings the show features its best bits of the week. Miller previously presented a special music request edition of his show called The Music Club on Sunday evenings and, in September 2003, presented an outside broadcast of this show from the BBC Music Library in London. In September 2015, producer, at the time, Stephen Humphries took Paul Miller to play his first ever game of bingo, with an outside broadcast that took place in an independent hall in Oxfordshire. The Paul Miller Soul ShowThe Paul Miller Soul Show [2] is primarily music based two hour show with occasional requests made by listeners. The show is broadcast on Sundays between 7{{nbsp}}pm and 9{{nbsp}}9m on BBC Radio Sussex, Surrey, Solent, Oxford and Berkshire, and repeated at 9{{nbsp}}pm on BBC Radio Oxford and Berkshire, and at 5{{nbsp}}pm on DAB only on BBC Radio Solent. It is generally hosted solo. Music featured includes commercially available jazz and soul music, on occasion Paul Miller specialises in one recently released album or compilation with some interjection of other tracks. Personal life{{BLP unsourced section|date=November 2015}}Miller attended Whitton School in Twickenham. Before working in a shop owned by his uncle, he worked as a croupier and as a nightclub DJ. He used to own a caravan near Bognor beach, and was often teased by listeners for his holidays in his caravan. He has also been teased about his Citroën 2CV which he previously drove, and he now jokes that he drives an "Allepri" (a cut-and-shut version of an Austin Allegro and a Ford Capri). His 2CV was featured in the opening sequence of the BBC television broadcast Antiques Road Show, and it was borrowed by the makers for this purpose. Miller "does not 'do' ironing", and is highly skilled in aromatherapy – possessing an eclectic selection of oils. He once did an outside broadcast from his oils factory, and even gave some away to lucky listeners. He lives with his elderly mother and has a dog named Charlie.
