The Bhagwa Dhwaj ({{lang-hi|भगवा ध्वज, Bhagwā Dhwaj)}} also called as "Kesariya Pataka" is a saffron color flag that has been used by a number of Indian political entities especially Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists in the history of India. At present it is used by Hindu-oriented political groups and can be seen in the form of flag in many Hindu temples. It is widely respected by Hindus and represents sacrifice and courage. The flag historically served as the flag of the Marathas, "it is swallow-tailed and of a deep saffron color emblematic of the followers of Mahadeva."[1] References1. ^{{cite book|author=Lord Egerton of Tatton|title=Indian and Oriental Arms and Armour|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=00_CAgAAQBAJ&pg=PA171|date=18 January 2013 |orig-year=1880|publisher=Courier Dover Publications|isbn=978-0-486-14713-0|pages=171–}} {{asia-flag-stub}} 2 : Flags of India|Maratha Empire |
