释义 |
Bhajahari Lodge is a protected early 20th century mansion in Tipu Sultan Road, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was built by Bhajohari Saha Banik around 1925. Although it was primarily a residence, Bhajohari and his brother Lal Mohan Saha founded a theatre company, and dramas were often performed there.[1][2] Bhajahari Lodge is a blend of Indian and Gothic architecture. The principal facade is two storeys high, {{convert|150|ft}} long, and symmetrical. The main entrance is through a trefoil arch in the middle. On the second floor are three oriel windows, the two on either side capped with half domes. The oriel window above the main entrance has a conical top, and a gabled roof rises above. An incompatible western block was added later. The forecourt had an ornamental fountain that has been lost.[1] The 1996 Bangladesh: A Lonely Planet Travel Survival Kit said Bhajahari Lodge "features a grand but decrepit frontage facing south and lovely 2nd-storey balconies".[3] It is on the Department of Archaeology's list of protected monuments.[4][5] However its users, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College and Graduates High School, want it demolished.[1] References1. ^1 2 {{cite news |last=Rahman |first=Mahbubur |date=August 2009 |title=An Architect's Dhaka |url=http://archive.thedailystar.net/campus/2009/03/01/feature_dhk.htm |work=Star Campus |publisher=The Daily Star |access-date=July 1, 2017}} {{coord missing|Bangladesh}}2. ^{{cite book |last=Haider |first=Azimusshan |year=1966 |title=A City and Its Civic Body: A Description of Facts and Events Spotlighting Certain Aspects of Life in and Around Dacca During the Last Hundred Years, and an Account of Dacca Municipality: a Souvenir to Mark the Centenary of Dacca Municipality |publisher=Dacca Municipality |page=27 |oclc=13241780}} 3. ^{{cite book |last1=Newton |first1=Alex |last2=Wagenhauser |first2=Betsy |last3=Murray |first3=Jon |year=1996 |title=Bangladesh: A Lonely Planet Travel Survival Kit |publisher=Lonely Planet Publications |page=118 |isbn=978-0-86442-296-5}} 4. ^{{cite web |url=http://archaeology.gov.bd/site/page/33b15f5f-82e4-426a-8028-c39f221a468d/List-of-Monuments |title=List of Monuments |website=Department of Archaeology |access-date=1 July 2017}} 5. ^{{cite book |title=Historical dictionary of Bangladesh |volume=75 |series=Historical dictionaries of Asia, Oceania, and the Middle East |first1=Syedur |last1=Rahman |first2=Craig |last2=Baxter |edition=Fourth, revised |publisher=Scarecrow Press |year=2010 |isbn=978-0-8108-6766-6 |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=bJfcCPUr0OoC |page=137}} 2 : Buildings and structures in Dhaka|Tourist attractions in Dhaka |
