The press has received funding and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Missouri Arts Council, the Swedish Institute in Stockholm, the Witter Bynner Foundation, and the Kansas City Institute for Trusts and Foundations.[2] Notable authors published by BkMk Press include Kelly Cherry,[3] Alice Friman,[4] Rane Arroyo,[5] Carolyn Kizer,[6][7] Tony Barnstone,[8] and Mary Troy.[9] BkMk Press publishes on average six titles a year,[2] and sponsors two annual publication awards for the best submitted book-length manuscript in English: the John Ciardi Prize for Poetry,[10] and the G.S.
