The work is designed to be principally non-linear, with users constructing the story through point-and-click choices.[3][4][5] The music by composer Philippe Lambert and characters' speech was broken into short clips and distributed randomly throughout the programming, which was created by Édouard Lanctôt-Benoit. As an added bonus, BLA BLA users can also access classic NFB animated films, including works by Ryan Larkin, René Jodoin, Michèle Cournoyer and Norman McLaren. BLA BLA was produced for the NFB by Hugues Sweeney.[3][5] The work stands apart in its emphasis on achieving an emotional response in the viewer/actor. "I wanted to create moods and generate emotions through an interactive piece," Morriset says. "It's quite hard to do dramatic crescendos on a website… I thought it would be an interesting challenge." [6] BLA BLA was featured in spring 2012 at a month-long live interactive presentation in Paris.[7]AwardsIn March 2012, BLA BLA received the SXSW Interactive Art Award as well as the Entertainment Award in the Communication Arts Interactive Competition.[8] In May 2012, it received the Webby Award for best web art.[9] References1. ^{{cite news|last=Deglise|first=Fabien|title=Bla Bla: ce film dont vous êtes le héros|url=https://www.ledevoir.com/opinion/blogues/les-mutations-tranquilles/324000/bla-bla-ce-film-dont-vous-etes-le-heros|accessdate=8 June 2011|newspaper=Le Devoir|date=25 May 2011|location=Montreal|language=French}} 2. ^{{cite news|last=Griffin|first=John|title=Montreal artist Vincene (sic) Morisset creates interactive computer film|url=http://www2.canada.com/nanaimodailynews/news/entertainment/story.html?id=c040b907-df5b-4a90-9d42-f3e9b764b22b|accessdate=8 June 2011|newspaper=Daily News|date=30 May 2011|agency=Postmedia|location=Nanaimo}} 3. ^1 2 {{cite news|last=Dixon|first=Guy|title=Bla Bla: An Arcade Fire collaborator gets into baby talk|url=http://m.theglobeandmail.com/news/arts/movies/bla-bla-an-arcade-fire-collaborator-gets-into-baby-talk/article2106699/?service=mobile|accessdate=27 October 2011|newspaper=The Globe and Mail|date=22 July 2011}} 4. ^{{cite news|last=Gevaudan|first=Camille|title="BLa Bla", sujet et verbe à la fois|url=http://www.liberation.fr/medias/01012341348-bla-bla-sujet-et-verbe-a-la-fois|accessdate=8 June 2011|newspaper=Libération|date=4 June 2011|location=Paris|language=French}} 5. ^1 {{cite news|last=Mark|first=Sinclair|title=BLA BLA: a film for computer|url=http://www.creativereview.co.uk/cr-blog/2011/may/bla-bla-vincent-morisset-national-film-board-canada|accessdate=9 June 2011|newspaper=Creative Review|date=17 May 2011|location=London}} 6. ^Amid Amidi (11 April 2011).
