BackgroundIn early 2013, Del Rey stated that she had been working on her third studio album and had written the song "Black Beauty" for it,[2] but after it leaked the status of the song on the album became unknown. The song is about Del Rey loving a man who doesn't appreciate the beauty of life, and lamenting the sadness of this.{{Citation needed|date=November 2014}} It was confirmed on May 8, 2014 that it would be a bonus track on Ultraviolence.[3] CompositionThe song "Black Beauty" has a track length of 5 minutes and 14 seconds. The song has a time signature of 4/4, is played in the key of F, and has a BPM (beats per minute) of about 120. While the original demo track featured Del Rey singing over a synthesized organ with bass and stringed instruments, the album version included a choir and electric guitar. Critical receptionMuuMuse's Bradley Stern compared the song to Del Rey's 2012 single "Ride", calling it "an unbelievably gorgeous track" and "one of Lana's greatest epics".[4]Track listing
