He was the play-by-play announcer for the Edmonton Oilers television broadcasts on ITV, CKEM and Sportsnet West from the 1984 until 2001. During the 1986–87 season he split play-by-play duties on CHCH-TV's Toronto Maple Leafs broadcasts with Calgary Flames announcer Peter Maher.[2] He has also done play-by-play for the Red Deer Rebels, Winnipeg Jets and Calgary Flames and got occasional play-by-play assignments on Hockey Night in Canada in the late 1980s. Buchanan later worked for Sportsnet, and as a sports anchor for A-Channel in Edmonton.[3][4][5] As of 2005, he was working as a real estate agent.[6] References1. ^http://www.edmontonsun.com/2014/10/14/letters-oct-15 {{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Buchanan, Bruce}}2. ^{{cite news|title=Flames' broadcaster joins Leafs' TV crew|url=https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=_wxlAAAAIBAJ&sjid=TX8NAAAAIBAJ&pg=5179,2971194&dq|accessdate=12 April 2012|newspaper=Canadian Press|date=October 5, 1986}} 3. ^A-Channel masters behind the scene: [Final Edition]Tait, Cam.
