The specific epithet {{lang|la|sessilifolia}} is from the Latin meaning "leaf without stalk", referring to the sessile leaves.[2]DescriptionBuchanania sessilifolia grows as a tree up to {{convert|20|m|-1}} tall with a trunk diameter of up to {{convert|30|cm|0|abbr=on}}. Its smooth bark is grey-brown. The flowers are whitish.
