In a joint resolution of the Virginia State House, Calvert was commended for 35 years of leadership, outstanding service and compassionate ministry to the residents of Fairfax County and other communities.[2] Early life and educationCalvert was born on October 3, 1943, in Arlington, Virginia. He joined the United States Army and served as a paratrooper in Italy, then attended at Bob Jones University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.[2] He later received a masters and doctorate in ministry from Freedom University. Fairfax Baptist TempleBud Calvert founded the Fairfax Baptist Temple in October 1970 with the stated mission "to glorify God and evangelize the world." In 1976 the church began a Christian school, Fairfax Baptist Temple Academy, now a K4-12th grade school considered a ministry of the church and which takes part in the Old Dominion Association of Church Schools. The church also founded and sponsors the International Conference on World Evangelism (ICWE), intended "to educate young pastors and remind seasoned pastors about the need to maintain primacy of world evangelism in the life of every church."[3] Published works
