The cultivar was released to commerce in 2011. Description'Autumn Surprise' is a late summer to early autumn-flowering shrub growing to a height of 2 m. The inflorescences are small terminal panicles of violet-blue flowers, complemented by small silvery grey leaves. [1] CultivationOwing to its recent introduction, 'Autumn Surprise' is rare in cultivation in the UK. It is included in the NCCPG National Collection held by Longstock Park Nursery.
