The inflorescences are panicles of cerise red flowers, 15–25 cm in length. The shrub is reputedly best grown in shade. [2] Cultivation'Leela Kapila' has become popular in the UK and western Europe, but is not known to have been introduced to North America. In the UK it is included in the NCCPG National Collection held by Longstock Park Nursery near Stockbridge in Hampshire. Hardiness: USDA zones 5–9.
