Description{{tdes|Flutterby Pink|caps}} makes a small shrub with an upright growing habit. Growing to a maximum height and spread of 1.2 × 1.5 m, the shrub bears compound terminal and axillary panicles about 8 cm long by 5 cm wide, each comprising around 250 faintly fragrant pale purple-violet flowers. The flowers emerge in spring and persist until the first frosts of the fall. The opposite, elliptic to lanceolate leaves are about 9 cm long by 3 cm wide, lanulose above and below.
