It was released in 2009 under Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE). The mixtape contains 17 tracks and includes guest appearances from Lamar's TDE label-mates Ab-Soul, Punch, Jay Rock and BO. The mixtape was heavily inspired by Lil Wayne’s 2008 album Tha Carter III, composed mostly of freestyles over instrumentals from Wayne’s album, in addition to a number of original tracks.[2] Track listing{{expand section|songwriters|date=February 2018}}{{Track listing| collapsed = | headline = | extra_column = Producer(s) | total_length = 77:13[1] | writing_credits = | title1 = Intro | note1 = | writer1 = | extra1 = | length1 = 0:22 | title2 = Best Rapper Under 25 | note2 = | writer2 = | extra2 = Maestro | length2 = 3:15 | title3 = Mr. Carter (Alternate Wayne Verse) | note3 = | writer3 = | extra3 = {{hlist|DJ Infamous|Drew Correa}} | length3 = 4:12 | title4 = A Milli | note4 = | writer4 = | extra4 = Bangladesh | length4 = 3:13 | title5 = Bitch I'm in the Club | note5 = | writer5 = | extra5 = | length5 = 2:38 | title6 = West Coast Wu Tang | note6 = featuring Ab-Soul and Punch | writer6 = | extra6 = | length6 = 4:22 | title7 = Phone Home | note7 = featuring Punch | writer7 = | extra7 = Cool & Dre | length7 = 2:51 | title8 = Compton Chemistry | note8 = | writer8 = | extra8 = Swizz Beatz | length8 = 2:22 | title9 = Take Off Ur Pants | note9 = performed by Ab-Soul | writer9 = | extra9 = Robin Thicke | length9 = 3:40 | title10 = Shot Down | note10 = featuring Punch | writer10 = | extra10 = D.
